The calendar for next year’s Kumho Tyre V8 Touring Cars series has been released with the five event season culminating at the OTR The Bend 500 in September.

Having ended its branding relationship with Supercars to use the Super3 title, the series has reverted to its previous name for 2020.

The third tier of Supercars racing will split its schedule between Shannons Nationals and Supercars events.

Three events with the CAMS run Shannons Nationals, which will see the series share billing with TCR Australia and S5000, will take in Sydney Motorsport Park and Phillip Island.

Round 3 remains to be confirmed in early July, a date traditionally occupied by an outing at Queensland Raceway.

Special focus will be given to the season finale, which is set to include an expanded Heritage component.

The remaining events will run on the Supercars support bill at the Truck Assist Winton SuperSprint and Pirtek Enduro Cup-opening The Bend 500, neither of which are promoted by Supercars itself.

“We’ve assembled a strong program with a diverse mixture of circuits and events,” explained category manager Liam Curkpatrick.

“We’re going to work closely with The Bend Motorsport Park to make the final round something special, incorporating some of the sensational history that our cars already have and adding to that as well.

“There are some great cars around that we’d love to see on the track at the first ever 500km endurance race on such a fantastic circuit and after the show the series put on this year, we want to go even better in 2020.

“The Shannons Nationals have been a core component of our championship since day one and the growth seen this year showcases how quickly it’s growing.

“To have V8TC alongside great categories like TCR, S5000 and TCM will help bring spectators through the gate and make for great TV, too.

“This is an exciting refresh for the category and there’s more to come before the new year starts.”

Earlier this month it was announced that the V8 Touring Cars series had formed an alliance with Australian Racing Group, which operates TCR Australia, S5000, and Touring Car Masters.

This year’s competition was claimed by Broc Feeney at the wheel of a Paul Morris Motorsport FG Falcon.
