Renault has confirmed Esteban Ocon will join the team for its season ending test following the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina.
Ocon signed with Renault in August to join Daniel Ricciardo as one of the squad’s race drivers for 2020, replacing Nico Hulkenberg.
The 23-year-old has been the official reserve and simulator driver for Mercedes, which agreed to release him for the test.
Daniel Ricciardo was prevented from taking part in the test for Renault last year, having confirmed that he would join the French marque from Red Bull.
Ocon sat the 2019 season out after losing his drive at what was then Force India following the Lawrence Stroll-led buyout that saw Lance Stroll join Sergio Perez.
Renault currently sits fifth in the constructors’ championship, eight points clear of Toro Rosso and now mathematically out of contention for fourth.
