Supercars Practice 3 at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 has been delayed following a heavy crash in the earlier Toyota 86 Racing Series qualifying session.

Officials have been required to make extensive repairs to the Armco barriers on the outside of Turn 8 following a heavy shunt for Craig Thornton.

In the dying minutes of the session Thornton lost control of his Toyota running through the esses, resulting in the car spearing right across the track and into the barriers at speed.

The shunt caused heavy damage to his car although Thornton was able to exit the vehicle under his own steam.
