The Ford Mustang NASCAR which conducted a demo at the Superloop Adelaide 500 is heading back to the US this week after a brief sojourn at DJR Team Penske.

Shell V-Power Racing had taken delivery of the car earlier this month following its appearances at the Supercars season opener and at Ford Australia’s headquarters in Broadmeadows, Victoria where it was on display.

Having been air freighted out of the US for last month’s Adelaide 500, the car is expected to be shipped stateside this week before returning to Penske’s base in North Carolina.

The Penske built Ford Mustang was driven by two-time Supercars champion Marcos Ambrose in demonstration runs at Adelaide alongside blue oval legend Dick Johnson in a current specification Mustang Supercar and current Supercars champion Scott McLaughlin in a road going Mustang.

Two @fordperformance Mustangs. One heading to Tassie, the other, sadly, heading back to North Carolina…
