Vincent Ciccarello has been named the Castrol Australian Motor Sport Official of the Year at the CAMS National Awards Gala Dinner in Melbourne.
The South Australian has been a long time servant to the sport, having performed a variety of functions across more than three decades.
Ciccarello has worked as Event Secretary, Clerk of Course, and Race Director at events across all levels form grassroots to international events.
“It's very hard to pinpoint how I feel about winning this award because honestly I feel a mixture of emotions,” Ciccarello said.
“I am happy, I am anxious, I am over the moon and I am truly humbled about this whole experience.
“I was worried about accepting the award at the start because I didn't think I deserved it as there are thousands of talented officials worthy of the award, but now standing here holding this this award, I am really appreciative that I am at the top of tree and the 2018 Castrol official of the year.”
Ciccarello was one of a host of individuals recognised at the gala, including Anton De Pasquale who picked up the Peter Brock Medal and Speedcafe.com founder Brett Murray received a CAMS Service Award.
