De Pasquale still searching for improvements
Anton De Pasquale is still searching for improvements despite netting his maiden Supercars top ten finish.
The Erebus Motorsport driver translated his promising qualifying pace on Saturday after starting eighth on the grid for Race 9 at the WD-40 Phillip Island 500.
De Pasquale shadowed team mate David Reynolds in the opening stint of the 57-lap race trailing his team-mate home in seventh.
“It was really good (today),” De Pasquale told Speedcafe.com.
“We (Reynolds and I) qualified really close again today, like we finished yesterday. When you qualify in that sort of top ten, top eight, it makes the race a bit easier.
“(I) Had a pretty good start, then just held position, had a pretty good strategy and held our way to the end. The car was good, looked after its tyres.”
The former Super2 race winner believes Saturday’s race identified areas to improve for Sunday’s Race 10.
“I think our cars look really good at high speed; lower speed stuff in the race anyway was a little bit weak,” De Pasquale said.
“We’ll have a look at the stuff we’ve got tonight, information between the two cars because we still have a lot of information to look over.
“The cars are still a little bit different, so we’ll try and make something of it and come out firing.
Supercars will return to the track on Sunday for qualifying at 1040 AEST ahead of Race 10 of the championship later in the day.
