Formula 1 has shown off a new streaming service which it will make available to fans in a number of markets in 2018.
Announced last year, the sport’s owners, Liberty Media, have provided a first look at the new premium service, which will be available in selected countries in Europe, and both Latin and South America
The app will broadcast all F1 sessions live, with on-demand access to all 20 on-board cameras and support races, including Porsche Supercup, for around $10 to A$15 a month.
The app, which has been dubbed F1 TV Pro, also provides access to press conferences and post-race interviews.
“With the launch of F1 TV, we are beginning on the journey to build a cornerstone of our digital transformation,” said Frank Arthofer, Formula 1’s director of digital and new business.
“F1 TV subscription products are clearly and centrally aimed at our hardest core fans, and we are firm believers that while we are bringing a new audience to the sport, we must always remain focused on delivering products and experiences that serve the most avid F1 fans.”
In addition to the F1 TV Pro app, the sport is also set to also offer another service, named F1 TV Access, that will offer live timing, commentary and extended highlights from each session.
It will also provide access to Formula 1’s historic archive and, when launched, is expected to be available near globally.
