VIDEO: NHRA Funny Cars collide in fiery crash

Two Funny Cars have hit after one suffered an engine explosion in a wild incident during the NHRA’s Arizona Nationals.

John Force’s car lost its engine and spat out flames, causing the 68-year-old to lose control and bounce off the opposite side wall.

He rebounded into the path of rival Jonnie Lindberg and the cars became tangled in their parachutes before coming to rest.

Force was hospitalised as a precaution but was released in time to return to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park and see his daughter Courtney win the Funny Car event.

“This was a great day for John Force Racing,” declared Force.

“Brittany (John’s other daughter) came back from a crash at Pomona and won first round and Courtney won Funny Car for Advance Auto Parts.

“My struggles continue, but I’m a big boy, I’ll fix it.”

Lindberg removed himself from the wreck under his own steam.
