The Newcastle street circuit has undergone a series of surface repairs overnight ahead of today’s final day of the Coates Hire Newcastle 500.

Sections of the tarmac were becoming loose during Saturday’s action which has prompted organisers to undertake preventative maintenance measures at several corners.

Patches have been placed at Turns 8, 9 and the final corner to avoid any further break up as the circuit completes its inaugural weekend.

The track will host the final round of the Supercars Championship today which will include a 20 minute qualifying session and a Top 10 Shootout, before a 95 lap race.
