Highlands brings Circuit Safari concept to NZ
A Circuit Safari-style experience which sees patrons take to the circuit by bus while performance cars fly past will take place at this weekend’s Highlands 501.
Inspired by the Nissan concept which made its international debut at September’s Wilson Security Sandown 500, Highlands Motorsport Park will hold the AJ Hackett Bungy Van Dash during Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes this weekend.
The 40-seater AJ Hackett Bungy bus will cruise around the circuit while some of the drivers in the weekend’s Australian Endurance Championship race conduct hot laps in Highlands’ fleet of sports cars, including a brand new Ferrari 488 GTB.
In addition, Shane van Gisbergen and drifting star ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett will serve as tour guides on the bus.
The dash will be the first of its kind in New Zealand.
“It’s a great way to combine two of the cornerstones of our business; motorsport and tourism,” said the circuit’s Chief Operating Officer Josie Spillane.
“This is a very unique and innovative way to experience the circuit and we’re stoked to have such a strong Kiwi tourism brand on board.
“AJ Hackett has its bridges and we’ve got our race circuit; it’s what we do with them and the experiences we offer that makes us iconic.”
Passengers will be selected via competitions on each of Highlands Motorsport Park’s and AJ Hackett Bungy’s Facebook pages as well as randomly at the event.
The Highlands 501 takes place this weekend (November 10-12).
