Monster backing continues for Waters in 2018

Cameron Waters and Richie Stanaway took victory at Sandown in the Monster Energy backed Ford

Cameron Waters will run under the colours of Monster Energy next season after confirmation that the drinks giant will extend its relationship with Prodrive.

Monster Energy has backed the #6 Prodrive Falcon for the last two years coinciding with Waters’ jump from winning the 2015 Dunlop Super2 Series to the main game.

The new deal was announced today at an event promoting this weekend’s Australian Speedway Grand Prix event in Melbourne.

This year has seen Waters step out of the shadows of his team-mates by claiming a maiden Supercars race victory at the Wilson Security Sandown 500 in September alongside Richie Stanaway.

Waters is lying eighth in the standings aided by a second place finish in Race 21 on the Gold Coast 600 last weekend.

The 23-year-old signed a new two-year deal with Prodrive in August.

“It’s awesome to be back with Monster Energy for a third year and I’m pumped for 2018 and getting some more wins for the team.” Waters said.

“I feel like I’ve proven myself in 2017 and that we have the right package as a team both technically and commercially to fight for titles in 2018, and that is the goal.

“I’d love to win a championship with Monster Energy on my car and pay them back for all the support they’ve shown in getting me to pinnacle of Australian motor racing.”

Waters will now head to New Zealand to contest the ITM Auckland Super Sprint, which will act as the penultimate round of the Supercars season.
