Jaxon Evans has made it two-from-two in the Carrera Cup with a controlled victory at Hidden Valley.
Starting from pole position, Evans did spin his rear-wheels off the start, but was able to keep David Wall on the outside through Turn 1.
From that point Evans was able to settle into a groove as Wall came under threat from Alex Davison. On lap #11 Davison passed Wall at Turn 1, but Evans had built a big enough gap to hold it through to the finish.
Behind, Andre Heimgartner tried to make his way through the field and hounded James Abela. To the credit of Abela, he not only kept Heimgartner at bay, but he also pressed Dylan O’Keeffe through to the finish.
The major action came in the Tag Heuer Carrera Challenge where the semi-professional drivers of Stephen Grove, Tim Miles and Sam Shahin diced throughout the race.
Shahin and Miles traded places back and forwards as Grove looked headed for victory. However, Shahin got by the category points leader and took first place.
Then while trying to hold onto second place, Grove tangled with Miles on the final corner and both crashed into the inside concrete barrier. Grove was able to cross the line, while Miles was left stranded and recorded a DNF. For his part Grove received a 15-point championship penalty and will start the last race off the rear of the grid.
The final race of the weekend is set down for 3.25pm this afternoon.
