Pascal Wehrlein has been cleared to participate in this week’s final Formula 1 pre-season test at Barcelona.
The Sauber driver was forced to sit out last week’s four-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya following medical advice regarding a back injury sustained at the Race of Champions in January.
Wehrlein collided with Williams driver Felipe Massa which resulted in the young German flipping his car.
However, Sauber has now confirmed its new signing will take to the wheel of the C36 taking over from GP2 star Antonio Giovinazzi, who filled in alongside Marcus Ericsson.
“We are pleased to inform (you) that Pascal will be ready to hit the track with the #C36 tomorrow,” read a post on the team’s official Twitter account.
The opening day of the final F1 test begins this evening.
