Shane Van Gisbergen sticks with #97

Shane Van Gisbergen has confirmed he will stick with his favourite competition number this year

Virgin Australia Supercars champion Shane Van Gisbergen has chosen to stick with his career number, 97, in defence of his title this season.

Ahead of his Red Bull Holden Racing Team unveiling their new look at Holden’s headquarters in Melbourne on January 19, Van Gisbergen took to social media to put to rest debate what number he will use in 2017.

Team boss Roland Dane has given Van Gisbergen’s wish his blessing as the team enters into a major three-year contract with Holden which will also see it have the rights to build the Commodore replacement for the Gen 2 era.

Red Bull had earlier posted a short teaser video ahead of the team’s launch next week which gave away no hint if the Kiwi would run with #97.
