New gen Mustang unleashed at B12 Hour supports

Ian McAlister will campaign the new gen Mustang in the TA2 support races at the Bathurst 12 Hour

A Trans-Am 2-spec new generation Ford Mustang will make its debut on the undercard at the Bathurst 12 Hour from February 3-5.

Ian McAlister will campaign the Mustang in the Riverwall Constructions Combined Sedan support category that features three, 10-lap races at Mount Panorama.

“It’s such a demanding track and it has got all the variables you want in a race track,” Young-based Ford dealer McAlister said.

“It’s very hard to set a car up to try and handle all those different variables.”

The TA2 cars feature a space-frame chassis from Howe Racing Enterprises with a controlled GM Racing V8 engine package developing 525bhp (391kW).

Joining Mustang-bodied cars on track are Chevrolet Camaros and Dodge Challengers.

Trans-Am 2 starts its New South Wales series at Wakefield Park in conjunction with Stock Cars Australia from February 25-26, while the six-round Queensland series starts at Lakeside Park from March 18-19.
