The factory Porsche 911 GT3 of Frederic Makowiecki, Richard Lietz and Michael Christensen has claimed pole for the Sepang 12 Hour.

In a gripping pole shootout, the Porsche claimed the coveted pole by .13s from the McLaren shared by Shane Van Gisbergen, Alvaro Parente and Come Ledogar.

Kiwi Earl Bamber will start from third in the Manthey Racing Porsche he shares with Nick Tandy and Patrick Pilet.

“We worked very well in the 911 GT3 R in free practice and saw constant improvements from session to session,” Makowiecki said.

“This pole is the result. The team truly deserved it.”

Parente continued his strong association in the K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3 by falling just short of the leading Porsche in what will be the US team’s debut endurance event at the Malaysian circuit.

Peter Kox won the pole in the #26 B-Quik Racing Audi R8 LMS Cup machine.

The Ginetta G55 took pole in GT4 while the #93 MARC Cars Australia Mazda 3 took honours in Class M from the sister team Ford Focus.
