Who will prevail in this weekend’s Formula 1 title showdown – Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton?

That’s the question for this week’s Pirtek Poll as the Mercedes team-mates prepare for the Abu Dhabi decider.

Rosberg takes a 12 point lead into the event, meaning he need only finish third if Hamilton wins the race.

Similarly, if Hamilton is second Rosberg can finish sixth and take the championship, or eighth if Hamilton is third.

Three-time champion Hamilton is the clear favourite for the race victory having led Rosberg to the line in each of the last three grand prix.

Both drivers have nine wins for the season, but reliability issues – most famously including an engine failure while leading in Malaysia – have proven costly for the Brit.

Rosberg has meanwhile finished on the podium in each of the last eight races and is highly likely to continue the streak unless a failure or incident intervenes.

The 31-year-old is seeking to emulate his father Keke, who won the world title in 1982, which would make the Rosbergs the second father and son duo to achieve the feat after Graham and Damon Hill.

With Keke having raced as a Finn, Nico would become just the third German to win the championship following Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, who took a combined 11 titles between 1994 and 2014.

Hamilton is meanwhile gunning for his third consecutive title having had the measure of Rosberg in dominant Mercedes machinery in each of the last two seasons.
