Details of the new generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car have been unveiled ahead of its global competition release next year.

While many of the one-make Carrera Cup Championships internationally will campaign the new machine in 2017, it will not make its debut in the Australian Carrera Cup until 2018.

Teams competing in the 2017 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia will be given first purchase option of the new machinery.

The new car features a redeveloped drivetrain with the four litre flat six engine increasing by 19kW to 357kW over the existing model.

Performance is further enhanced through improved downforce via a new front apron and new rear-end while the 184cm wide rear wing is retained from the current machine.

Wheel dimensions remain the same for the Cup car which tips the scales at 1,200kg.

Porsche has built over 3,000 GT3 Cup cars through 996, 997 and 991 model codes since 1998 which makes it the largest producer and seller of competitive GT machinery in the world.

The new car is priced from €189,900 ($279,470AUD).
