Le Brocq breaks points deadlock with DVS win

Prodrive Racing Australia star Jack Le Brocq produced an all-the-way win in the opening Dunlop Series race in Townsville.
The Ford driver scored his fourth straight win in the category when he took a decisive 5.4s victory over team-mate Gary Jacobson with Todd Hazelwood (Matt Stone Racing Commodore) claiming the final podium spot.
Le Brocq and Jacobson had previously been locked together level at the top of the standings on points.
Macauley Jones (Payce Holden) took fourth ahead of Richard Muscat (Wilson Security GRM Holden).
Eggleston Motorsport Commodore driver Taz Douglas sliced his way through the field from 18th on the grid to finish sixth.
Le Brocq won out in a frantic start, holding his ground in the run to the first turn.
Dumbrell was turned around by Andrew Jones at Turn 11 when battling for fifth before being collected by Anton de Pasquale who had been snookered on lap 3.
The ensuing debris and fluid from de Pasquale’s Falcon triggered a Safety Car period.
Le Brocq controlled the restart on lap 7 before quickly squeezing out a 1.4s lead over Jacobson.
Stewards investigated the Jones contact on Dumbrell but elected to take no action.
Hazelwood pulled a copybook move to take Macauley Jones for third on Lap 16 at Turn 13.
Bryce Fullwood attempted to take his team-mate Shae Davies at Turn 7, causing the latter to spin out.
