Newgarden cleared for Road America practice

IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden has received medical clearance to compete in practice for the KOHLER Grand Prix at Road America.
The 25-year-old is attempting a comeback this weekend after fracturing his right hand and shoulder in a frightening crash on June 12 at Texas Motor Speedway.
The Ed Carpenter Racing driver will be examined by medical teams following Friday practice to determine his fitness for the remainder of the weekend.
JR Hildebrand will take over the #21 entry if Newgarden is deemed unfit to participate in qualifying ahead of Sunday’s 50 lap race.
