Reigning Australian Formula 3 champion and Australian GT pilot Ricky Capo will contest the second round of the Kerrick Sports Sedans at Winton this weekend.

Capo will make his category debut behind the wheel of the iconic Kerrick supported Saab driven by Thomas Randle last season.

The Victorian driver has been contesting the Australian GT Championship this season in a BMW Z4 GT3 having starred in Australian F3 last year.

Capo has been a long time admirer of the category and is looking forward to taming the 850 plus horsepower Saab at the rural Victorian circuit.

The opportunity arrives after a maiden round podium in Australian GT at Phillip Island two weeks ago.

“I’m expecting it to be like nothing I’ve driven before, mainly because of the horsepower. We didn’t have time to test the car so my first time in it will be on Friday,” said Capo.

“My goal is to learn the nature of the car as soon as possible and hopefully we’ll be in a competitive position throughout the weekend.

“I’d like to thank Dean Randle and DREAM Motorsport for the opportunity and I hope to continue racing with them in the future.”

Capo will join a 18-car Sports Sedans grid featuring multiple champion Tony Ricciardello (Alfa Romeo) and V8 Supercars ace Jack Perkins, who will continue his stint behind the wheel of Darren Hossack’s Audi.

Just 13 points splits series leader Perkins and Ricciardello at the top of the standings heading into this weekend.
