Daniel Ricciardo is eager to run Renault's upgraded engine at the Monaco Grand Prix following a positive test at Barcelona.
Red Bull alongside the factory Renault squad ran the new improved power unit successfully during the opening day of the in-season test at the Spanish circuit.
However, after experiencing the improvement during the test, Ricciardo believes the upgrade could prove to be extremely valuable at Monaco.
The tight and twisty streets of Monte Carlo are seen as one of Red Bull's best opportunities to record another race win following its shock triumph at the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend.
“We will try to take what we can, but we will see. If we can get it (the update for Monaco), for sure we'd love it, but I think it is going to be a matter of time for now,” said Ricciardo.
“Monaco will be our best chance yet (to win). We had a good chance at the weekend – but for pure speed, Monaco should be interesting.”
“We are pretty happy with how it (the upgraded engine) is all looking.
“We will see what they find tonight, but it was all pretty reliable and everything ran as smooth as it could I think.”
“Now to make that next step, that is the last little step we are after to try to really get on Mercedes. But we are getting closer. That is exciting.”
Ricciardo is set to hand over the RB12 to new team-mate Max Verstappen for the conclusion of the Barcelona in-season test today.
