Super Black Racing has signed Aston Martin factory GT ace Richie Stanaway to partner Chris Pither in this year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup.

The 24-year-old will have his first taste of the Prodrive prepared Falcon during a dedicated co-driver practice session at Winton this Friday.

Since graduating from Australian Formula Ford in 2009, Stanaway has put together a highly impressive resume in both open-wheel and GT cars.

A champion in German Formula Masters and Formula 3, the Kiwi also proved a race winner in GP3, Formula Renault and GP2.

His current role with Aston Martin sees Stanaway compete in the World Endurance Championship, scoring a podium earlier this month at Spa.

Having enjoyed only brief tests in V8 Supercars before, Stanaway says he’s looking forward to settling into the Super Black entry.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining Super Black Racing and grateful for the opportunity to get some mileage under my belt to be as best prepared as possible for the enduro races later in the year,” he explained.

“Competing in V8 Supercars and especially the Bathurst 1000 has always been a childhood dream for me so I can’t wait to get going.

“I’ll be focused on putting my best foot forward to deliver the best possible results for the team.”

News of Stanaway’s signing follows Pither’s strong run last time out at Barbagallo that netted the team’s first top 10 finish of the year.

Super Black operations manager Greg Hahn says that securing Stanaway is another boost for the team.

“We’ve been working on this for a while,” said Hahn.

“He’s one of the hottest New Zealand talents out there in global motorsport and there’s absolutely no question about his outright pace and his abilities in an endurance race, so we see him joining the team for the enduros as a huge positive and can’t wait to get him in the car for practice.”
