The #1 Jamec-Pem Audi R8 has been stripped of its second place finish in the second Australian GT heat after receiving a post race penalty.
Stewards have added 17 seconds to the car’s race time following avoidable contact when reigning champion Mies tapped leader Nathan Morcom into a spin prior to the mandatory pits stops.
After handing over the car to Geoff Emery, the R8 chased James Koundouris’ Audi R8 to the flag to finish second.
As result of the penalty, the Mies/Emery car has been demoted to 18th position with Roger Lago (Lamborghini) inheriting second, while Justin McMillan/Glen Wood (Lamborghini) have been awarded the final place on the podium.
The final Australian GT race of the Clipsal 500 weekend is scheduled for 0900 on Sunday.
