V8 Supercars veteran Jason Bright will again carry the colours of BOC as he embarks on his 18th season in the category.
Brad Jones Racing has revealed a revised look for the #8 Holden in 2016, which sees the gas and welding equipment company continue as naming rights partner for the 12th consecutive year.
The partnership is the longest between any V8 Supercars team and primary sponsor currently in the sport.
BOC’s backing has continued despite a mixed run of results for Bright that has yielded just one top 10 championship finish since taking over the entry in 2011.
Set to debut a new chassis at the team’s upcoming February 22 test, Bright says he’s eager to build on development work undertaken late last year.
BJR has undergone significant change in the off-season with the departure of lead driver Fabian Coulthard and engineer Phil Keed.
‘It’s always nice to get a new car and the preparations are coming along really well,” said Bright.
“The crew have had a little bit longer to build this car than they did with (previous chassis) ‘Brodie’ (which was rushed into service following a major crash at the 2014 Clipsal 500).
‘I felt like we were moving forward at the end of last year and we need to take that momentum into the start of this season.
“We want to improve on last year’s results and be battling for podiums like we did at the end of 2015.
Having struggled to correlate set-ups with Coulthard due to different driving styles, Bright says he’s looking forward to working with new team-mates in Tim Slade and Tim Blanchard, who replaces the Nissan-bound Dale Wood.
‘I’m excited to be working alongside the two Tim’s this year,” said Bright.
“They’ll fit into the team really well and I think they will hit the ground running.
“There have been a lot of changes up and down pit lane and I feel like we will be a competitive group.”
