Kerry Madsen produced an impressive drive to clinch the Construction Solutions Piston Cup at Brisbane’s Archerfield Speedway.

The Australian sprintcar ace ended American Donny Schatz’s 14 race winning streak at the venue with a late surge to victory in the 35 lap feature race.

Local driver Andrew Scheuerle impressed throughout leading 30 laps of the feature race before becoming locked in a battle with Brooke Tatnell and Madsen.

However, it was Madsen who pr,evailed as the World of Outlaws racer powered by Tatnell and Scheuerle in quick succession in the closing laps.

As a result Madsen claimed the Piston Cup and $10,000 in prize money.

World of Outlaws champion Schatz was left to witness the end of his winning run as he settled for fourth spot having surged his way through the field from 14th position.

Steven Lines came home in fifth ahead of Luke Oldfield and reigning Australian champion Dave Murcott.

American sprintcar star Brad Sweet finished eighth while Lachlan McHugh and Ian Madsen rounded out the top 10.
