Cameron Waters has received a four place grid penalty for Race 28 following contact with Ash Walsh in qualifying.
Walsh’s Erebus Mercedes was taken out when Waters dived down the inside into Turn 5 during the closing stages of the first 10 minute hit-out.
The right-front of the Mercedes clipped the left-rear of the Ford, sending Waters momentarily into the air.
The careless driving penalty will see Waters start 18th in what is his first solo V8 Supercars Championship race.
Prodrive managed to repair damage to the #6 Pepsi Max Ford and return Waters to the track for the end of the second session, allowing him to qualify 10th for Race 29.
Walsh meanwhile missed the session, ensuring he will start the respective races 24th and 25th.
The Ipswich driver was yesterday fined $5,000 for performing a practice start in the ride sesson.
