Marcos Ambrose’s return to the wheel of the DJR Team Penske Ford during practice at Hidden Valley will take place in the colours of Shell Helix.

Initially slated to take primary sponsorship only for the Adelaide and Townsville events, the team has confirmed that Shell has added Hidden Valley to its roster.

Ambrose debuted the colours in Adelaide, which marked the first full car Shell sponsorship for a DJR entry since 2004.

“Shell Helix has been a great partner of the team for many years and it will be fantastic to see the Shell Helix Falcon back on track in Darwin and Townsville,” said DJR Team Penske managing director Ryan Story.

“Since Adelaide, we have seen our off-track partnership with Shell Helix evolve with the development of a technical program for lubricants to improve our engine and drive train performance.

“We are able to both channel Shell’s technical capabilities and resources, as well as Team Penske’s extensive experience, with similar programs in place with their NASCAR and IndyCar programs.”

A statement confirmed that Ambrose “will return to driving duties in Darwin, cutting some laps in Friday’s practice sessions”.

Scott Pye will continue in the role of primary driver, which he has held since Ambrose stepped back from full-time driving in March.
