Warburton denies V8 Supercars exit rumours

James Warburton
V8 Supercars chief executive James Warburton has strongly discredited reports that he is about to leave the sport.
Newspaper reports have today linked Warburton with a move to head up the Southern Cross Austereo network.
Warburton, who is two weeks away from notching his second anniversary at V8 Supercars, emphatically denied he has been approached nor is interested in leaving the sport.
“I sent a note to the team owners this morning that I didn’t know where the speculation came from,” Warburton told Speedcafe.com

“I haven’t been approached nor am I interested in being the CEO of a media company.
“As long as the stakeholders (teams and Archer Capital) want me and believe I am any value then I am here for the long haul.”
Warburton has overseen one of the most challenging periods in V8 Supercars history with the transition of broadcast rights from Network Seven to the shared Foxtel/Network Ten arrangement which commenced this season.
The Sydney-based executive’s previous roles include positions at Seven and Ten, which is an affiliate of Southern Cross.
