Buemi wins chaotic Monaco Formula E battle

Sebastien Buemi avoided carnage to win in Monaco
Sebastien Buemi became the first driver to claim two wins in the FIA Formula E Championship on the streets of Monaco.
The e.dams driver completed a lights-to-flag victory in the principality but was unable to relax having been pushed hard by championship leader Lucas di Grassi in the closing stages.
Despite coming under pressure, polesitter Buemi took the chequered flag by 2.154s from di Grassi.
China Racing’s Nelson Piquet Jr completed the podium in third.
The race was not without incident with the Safety Car deployed on the opening lap following a huge multi car incident on the exit of Saint Devote.

Bruno Senna made contact with Daniel Abt which resulted in the Brazilian being launched over the back of the ABT Sportsline driver.
The incident briefly blocked the track which affected several drivers including Vitantonio Liuzzi, Salvador Duran, Jean-Eric Vergne, Loic Duval and Jaime Alguersuari.
Senna and Alguersuari were instantly ruled out of the race, while Duval and Abt retired shortly after.
Buemi made no mistakes on the restart as he led di Grassi as the pair quickly gapped Piquet Jr in third.
Despite pitting two laps after di Grassi, Buemi managed to emerge form the pits in the lead which he hung to until the chequered flag.
ABT Sportsline racer di Grassi, who renewed his contract with the team for next season, extended his series lead to four points over Piquet Jr.
Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird finished fourth ahead of Dragon Racing’s Jerome D’Ambrosio with Nicolas Prost in sixth.
