DJR Team Penske has officially confirmed that Scott Pye will continue behind the wheel of its #17 Ford at the upcoming Perth Super Sprint.

The May 1-3 event will again see Marcos Ambrose attend with the team in a supporting role, as occurred last month at Symmons Plains.

It is yet to be decided whether the 38-year-old Tasmanian will take part in the Friday practice sessions, which are open to non-primary drivers.

The team has meanwhile announced that its Falcon will sport the colours of Penske Corporation brand MTU Detroit Diesel at Barbagallo Raceway.

The event, which is set to be attended by Roger Penske, will be the first time a Penske brand has featured on the car following earlier deals with Xbox, Shell Helix and Wurth.

Other Penske companies expected to be seen later in the season as part of the rolling sponsorship program include truck brands Western Star and MAN.

“This is an important part of the team’s marketing strategy as we welcome a Penske affiliate company for the first time as a primary sponsor,” said DJR Team Penske managing director Ryan Story.

“Scott Pye will continue the driving duties in Perth and we are looking forward to hosting many MTU guests to the garage over the weekend.”

The mining rich Western Australia is a key market for MTU, which distributes and maintains diesel and gas engines and power systems.

Penske bought the Australian arm of the company from Daimler AG and Rolls-Royce Power Systems last year.

It is expected to deliver up to $250 million in annualised revenue to the Penske Automotive Group.

“We are very excited to give the MTU brand such a huge push with naming rights sponsorship of the DJR Team Penske Ford in Perth.” said president and CEO of Penske Power Systems, Rob Sisk.

“This partnership provides a high-profile platform to showcase our first-class MTU brand and product portfolio, and it provides interaction with our MTU customer base in Western Australia at a new level.”
