Hankook will be the official control tyre supplier of CAMS Formula 4

Hankook has been unveiled as the official tyre supplier to the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport backed Australian Formula 4 Championship.

The South Korean tyre manufacturer will supply its Hankook Ventus Performance rubber to competitors throughout the seven round F4 season, which is set to begin at Townsville on July 10.

Competitors will be permitted six control slick tyres for each event per car, along with wet weather tyres which will also be available when required.

The tyres will be used for each round of the championship which will comprise of two free practice sessions, one qualifying session and three races.

CAMS Chief Executive Eugene Arocca believes Hankook is the perfect fit for the championship born to help develop aspiring young drivers.

“The success and credibility of this championships stems largely from the degree of technical fairness that exists between competitors,” said Arocca.

“Having Hankook Tyre involved, I am sure, will assist in delivering a category that focuses on driver development rather than car development, make Formula 4 cars safe and provide young drivers with the perfect tool in which to learn about single-seater racing.”

Identical rubber is set to be used in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 variant MSA Formula.

Hankook also supplies tyres to DTM, FIA European Formula 3, NZ SuperTourers and the Australia Manufacturers Championship.
