Vergne snares Andretti Formula E seat

Jean-Eric Vergne will make his FIA Formula E debut in Uruguay this weekend
Formula 1 refugee Jean-Eric Vergne will make his FIA Formula E debut at the third round of the all electric series in Uruguay this weekend.
The Frenchman will join the Andretti Autosport Formula E squad for the race on the Punta del Este streets alongside countryman Franck Montagny.
Vergne is currently searching for a drive in 2015 after Toro Rosso elected to sign Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz Jr for next season.
The 24-year-old will take over the Andretti Formula E seat held by Matthew Brabham at the previous round in Putrajaya, Malaysia last month.
He will become the third former Toro Rosso driver on the grid joining e.dams racer Sebastien Buemi and Virgin Racing’s Jaime Alguersuari.

“I am really looking forward to this opportunity, especially given its location in a place like Punta del Este,” said Vergne.
“Although I have no experience in this new series, I am excited about the prospect of racing in Formula E, and racing for such a prestigious team as Andretti.
“As always, the main objective of the weekend is to stay out front and finish the year on a high note.
“The weekend will be a little like a journey into the unknown, but it is a journey that I am thoroughly looking forward to.”
