Andrew Miedecke claimed the honours in the final two races of the Touring Car Masters season while John Bowe secured a third Pro Master Class crown at Phillip Island.
After Bowe won race one on Saturday, Miedecke returned serve to triumph in the final two races of the campaign behind the wheel of the Lubrimaxx Chevrolet Camaro.
A storming drive from ninth to second in the first contest of the day saw Bowe wrap up the Pro Master title, before coming up short in a titanic dice with Miedecke for victory in the final race.
The pair ran side-by-side on the final lap but Miedecke did enough to hold on and win the race and the final round of the season.
Greg Crick claimed the final place on the podium after a solid drive in his Dodge Charger.
“For me, it’s not about titles and things really but we’ve had a pretty good year in terms of results and the car has been terrific,” Bowe said, after adding to his 2011 and 2012 Touring Car Masters titles.
“I have to say I feel a bit sorry for Jim Richards. He’s like me in that the title thing doesn’t really worry him one way or the other, but he’s such a good competitor.
“He’s been strong for years and when you beat Jim Richards, you know you’ve beaten someone special. I feel for him but He’ll be back next year and have his Javelin and hopefully we can raise the support and keep going to race him.”
Elsewhere, Mark King and Chris Stilwell claimed the ProAm and ProSports titles.
Darren Chamberlin clinched the Aussie Racing Cars title after claiming two top 10 finishes in the final two races of the season.
Trent Young won both contests at the Victorian circuit but was pushed hard all the way. In the first race of the day, he held off Rhett Noonan and Brendon Pingel, while Chamberlin finished in 10th spot.
Young won a drag race with James Abela on the final lap to snatch the win by 0.020s in the final race of the season. Abela had forged his way through the pack from the rear of the grid.
Chamberlin came home sixth in the final race of the campaign.
