A groundswell of support has emergedĀ in response to a campaign directed at influencing Ford Australia to remain involved in domestic motorsport.
Amid an air of uncertainty which surfaced over the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 weekend, a public campaign was mounted to persuade Ford to stay in motorsport.
Speedcafe.com launched a petition for people to show their support for the blue oval maker to remain committed to motorsport following a newspaper report, which has been denied by both Ford and Ford Performance Racing, that said Ford had withdrawn factory funding.
Following the petition which saw 11,000 sign up in support of Ford continuing in motorsport, Speedcafe.com launched a survey which canvassed key marketing and purchasing questions related to the manufacturer.
More than 5,000 people completed the survey which closed recently.
Key results of the survey saw 85 percent claim that a manufacturer in motorsport influences their buying decision while 55 percent said they would change their decision to buy or potentially buy a Ford if the company withdrew from motorsport.
A massive 96 percent agreed that if Ford pulled support of Australian motor racing, it would hurt the blue oval brand.
Additionally, almost 85 percent said that Ford doesĀ not currently do enough to market its motorsport activities in Australia.
The completed survey results will be presented to Ford Australia in the near future.
