The Touring Car Masters will return to Symmons Plains and Queensland Raceway next season as part of an expanded eight-round schedule.
The popular V8 Supercars support category has added one extra round over its current season, which will conclude at Phillip Island this weekend.
The TCM will again take in the V8 Supercars meetings at Adelaide, Winton, Hidden Valley, Bathurst and Phillip Island.
The category’s September visit to Sydney Motorsport Park will meanwhile come at the Muscle Car Masters instead of the V8 Supercars after a year away from the former event.
The move is expected to see the TCM race on Sydney’s Grand Prix layout; preferred by its competitors over the tight and twisting extended circuit utilised by the MCM in recent years.
Symmons Plains rejoins the series for the first time since 2010, acting as the second round, while Queensland Raceway slots back in after a year away as Round 5, replacing Sandown.
Townsville remains off the schedule, despite public support from the local mayor for the category to make its maiden visit to the North Queensland street circuit.
While TCM management also stated its desire earlier this year to add Townsville to its season, cost concerns for competitors are understood to have tempered plans to add to its northern trip.
