AGI Sport will enter the CAMS Australian Formula 4 Championship with a two car effort next season.
The Sydney-based squad run by former A1GP Team Australia boss Adam Gotch is the latest team to unveil plans to join the new category, following top Australian F3 squad Team BRM’s announcement last week.
Formed in 2012 AGI Sport has enjoyed sporadic appearances in Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship with driver Nathan Gotch.
However, the team are now looking to expand their operation into F4 for next year.
“Having taken a keen interest in Formula 4 since its announcement in November 2013, we felt the time was right to lock-in our position on the grid for 2015,” said Team Manager Adam Gotch, a former Williams F1 technician.
“There’s no denying that Mark Webber and Daniel Ricciardo’s recent achievements have put open-wheelers firmly back in the spotlight here in Australia.
“We look forward to working closely with CAMS to develop junior talent that can confidently take that next step onto the international stage.”
The 21-race Australian Formula 4 Championship to be held over seven rounds is due to begin in June/July next season.
Since CAMS unveiled plans for the Australian F4 Championship in March this year a total of 49 expressions of interest to join the series have been submitted.
The championship is yet to unveil control engines and tyres for the inaugural campaign.
