The Asia Pacific Ferrari Challenge Series has been confirmed as a support category for the 2015 Clipsal 500 Adelaide.
The Ferrari Challenge, which also races in China, Japan and Malaysia, debuted on Australian soil at Sydney Motorsport Park’s Ferrari Racing Days festival earlier this year.
Adelaide will open its 2015 season, with races to be held on the Saturday and Sunday of the event.
Ferrari Australasia CEO Herbert Appleroth says he’s looking forward to seeing the 30-car field on the streets of Adelaide.
“We were very keen on giving the motorsport fans in South Australia and beyond the chance to see the world’s best one-make race category again on home soil,” Appleroth said.
“We are excited to partner with Clipsal 500 to bring the first round of the Ferrari Asia Pacific Challenge Series to Adelaide for the very first time and to have it part of such a well-respected and iconic Australian motorsport event.”
The Ferrari involvement will also see the display of limited build hybrid LaFerrari road car.
Race organisers are yet to confirm the rest of the support bill, although Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Truck Series has also been linked to an appearance at the event.
The push for international classes has put the squeeze on local supports, including the Dunlop Series, which has appeared in Adelaide every year since 2003.
