MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez secured his third pole position of the season after yet another dominant display in qualifying ahead of Sunday's Grand Prix of Argentina.
The Honda rider was the only man to post a time inside the 1m37s bracket at the Termas de Rio Hondo circuit, finishing more then sevenths tenths of a second faster than nearest rival Jorge Lorenzo.
Team-mate Dani Pedrosa completed the front row in third with the Spaniard trailing Marquez by almost a second.
Forward Yamaha's Aleix Espargaro continued to show his class as he guided his Open Class bike to fourth spot, ahead of Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso and Yamaha's Valentino Rossi.
The session began with Gresini Honda's Alvaro Bautista briefly enjoying a spell at the top of the time sheets with Stefan Bradl in hot pursuit, before the German rider suffered a high side which ended his session prematurely
It wasn't long before Marquez struck with a time to elevate himself into provisional pole. He would further improve his time to end the session with a best effort of 1.37.683s.
Tech 3 Yamaha's Bradley Smith ended the session in seventh ahead of Pramac Ducati's Andrea Iannone while Bradl claimed ninth.
Bautista completed the top 10 with Australia's Broc Parkes showing glimpses of speed in 18th position for Paul Bird Motorsport.
Cal Crutchlow's replacement Michele Pirro could only post a time good enough for 19th spot on the works Ducati.
