Peter Carr took the Aussie Racing Car honours at Symmons Plains in a meeting that featured a major accident for erstwhile points leader Trent Young.
Car took three wins and a fifth from the four heats to end the weekend three points ahead of fellow Toyota driver Darren Camberlin.
Fifteen-year-old karting graduate James Abela completed the weekend podium having scored the win in Race 3.
Maurice Masini, Rhett Noonan, James Duckworth, Adam Uebergang, Brendon Pingel, Adam Gowans and Shayne Smith completed the weekend’s top 10.
The third encounter had seen Adelaide round winner Young walk away from a violent series of rollovers at Turn 2.
The Young Racing Aurion clipped the left-rear corner of Sam Milton’s Toyota, triggering the incident.
Symmons Plains featured the debut of the Nissan Altima bodyshape following the appearance of a ‘Euro GT’ body with Altima stickers in Adelaide.
Drivers Craig Thompson and Michael Rinkin were 19th and 20th for the round in the 25 car field.
The season will continue with the V8 Supercars Championship at Barbagallo on May 16-18, with Carr now atop the standings heading to the West Australian venue.
