The world’s most visited website, Google has moved to honour Ayrton Senna by festooning its Doodle artwork with the driver’s image on what would have been his 54th birthday.
Google has produced 1500 of its iconic homepage Doodles over the last 17 years, celebrating a vast array of significant world events and anniversaries.
The mark of respect comes ahead of the 20th anniversary of Senna’s death during the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola on May 1, 1994.
He had claimed three world F1 championships, 65 pole positions and 41 victories in a 10-year grand prix career prior to the accident and to this day remains revered as one of the all-time greats.
Stay tuned to Speedcafe.com for a special five-part Senna tribute, starting on April 28.
