Australia’s John Martin has backed-up victory in LMP2 at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo with a win at the 6 Hours of The Circuit Of The Americas in Austin.

Part of the Oreca Racing squad, Martin was instrumental in Nissan scoring a 1-2 in LMPT2 ahead of the Pecom Racing team.

“Awesome job again by the #26 guys including Mike and Roman – thanks a lot”- Tweeted Martin.

The LMP2 class provided some very close racing in the first half of the race, and the only Safety Car period of the race on the first lap. Martin along with Mike Conway and Roman Rusinov led for the majority of the race to lead home Luis Perez Companc, Nicolas Minassian and Pierre Kaffer and take the lead in the FIA Endurance Trophy for LMP2 teams.

“The drivers, the mechanics, the engineers, in fact the whole team did a perfect job,” said Rusinov.

“It was very important for us to start from pole position as we knew our car was not the fastest this weekend and we’ve done it! This is our second win in a row and I am very satisfied with the result. I hope we can continue this winning momentum when we travel to Japan.”

The next round of the FIA World Endurance Championship takes place at Fuji Speedway in Japan on 19/20 October.
