Super tight in F3 practice at Symmons

Steel Guiliana
Steel Guiliana and Tim Macrow have been separated by just 0.0031s after two intense practice sessions for the Formula 3 Australian Drivers Championship at Symmons Plains Raceway.
R-Tek Motorsport / GreenOzNet-sponsored driver Guiliana set the fastest time of the day this morning in opening practice, his 50.5324s lap edging out Macrow by 0.0069s.
Macrow, meanwhile, revelled in his Team BRM Dallara by topping the second session with a 50.5355s lap meaning the two ended the day split by a tiny margin.
The top 10 cars were covered by less than a second today ahead of what is shaping up to be three highly competitive races this weekend at the 2.4km circuit.
“I think we started where we left off at Bathurst last week,” said Guiliana.
“We were good in every condition there and we’ve come out of the box well here too. Usually I like to build up across a weekend but we’ve been on it since we got here, so it’s a pleasing start for us.
“I think we have a good package that can challenge for pole but be good in the races as well. It’s a good car.”
Tomorrow will see qualifying held in the morning and two races contested across the course of the afternoon – prior to Sunday morning’s Tasmanian feature race.
Qualifying was held for the opening round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship with Shamick Racing’s Anton De Pasquale edging out Simon Hodge (Sonic Motor Racing Services) by 0.039s. Sam Power in the Synergy Motorsport/AVCS Mygale will start third in the 13 car field.
Qualifying for the Aussie Racing Car Series went the way of Maurice Masini who was 0.37s faster than Trent Young, Adam Gowans was just 0.01s further back in third.
