Matthew Brabham continued his dominating form by winning Race 2 of the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires at the Allied Building Products Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
Having won the opening race from eighth on the grid, the third-generation racer lined up fifth for Race 2.
The confident teenager was up to third by the end of the first lap and passed his Andretti Autosport teammate Shelby Blackstack for the lead on the ninth lap.
With clean air in front of him Brabham pulled away from the field to win by a comfortable 6.255 seconds, posting the fastest lap in the process.
“Today was a fantastic,” said Brabham.
“It's awesome to get one, two for Andretti Autosport. This race just shows how hard the team has been working all week.
“Not only was it a great race, but it was a bonus to get the win and continue on this trend in the series; hopefully I keep getting the most points I possibly can in the championship.
“This is one of those weekends where everything has fallen into place. We had a little bit of trouble in qualifying, but came out on top with the win.”
Brabham now holds a 12 point lead over Diego Ferreira who finished third in the race today.
The championship now has a nine week break until “Night before the 500” oval race 0n 25th May at the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.
