Jason Bright collects Rick Kelly in the latter stages of today’s race
Jason Bright was the only driver to receive a points penalty in a fraught end to the second race at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide today.
The Team BOC driver has been docked 15 points for his contact with Jack Daniel’s Racing’s Rick Kelly that caused the late race smash up at the Turn 14 hairpin.
Kelly, Garth Tander and Todd Kelly were all involved in the incident, with the latter pair eliminated due to damage.
The penalty for Bright leaves his stranded in 26th in the championship after a speedy, yet disappointing event.

Holden Racing Team driver James Courtney was the only other driver to receive a penalty at the Clipsal 500, copping a 15 point penalty for his clash with Bright at the Turn 9 hairpin on Saturday.
Courtney, however, escaped sanction for his push on Scott McLaughlin in the final laps of today’s 78 lap race. Driving Standards Observer Cameron McConville confirmed that the no breach was made due to McLaughlin’s persistent blocking over the previous laps.
Shane van Gisbergen claimed his first win for Tekno Autosports today, beating home Red Bull Racing Australia’s Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes.
