Jonny Reid on top in Sydney Carrera Cup practice

Jonny Reid has edged out Craig Baird to set the fastest time in practice for the City Index Carrera Cup round at Sydney Olympic Park today.
The Kiwi pair claimed a session apiece on a day when fellow front-runner Alex Davison was frustrated mechanical issues.
Reid and Baird set their best times of the day in the first half of Practice 2, swapping the top spot every lap for the first several minutes. However, Baird’s fastest effort in the ninth minute was 0.14s shy of what proved to be the ultimate benchmark, a 1:30.9233s.
Baird had earlier topped Practice 1 by just 0.05s from Davison and Nick Foster. Foster was third again in Practice 2, having got away with a moment at the bus stop in the first half of the session when the Money Choice entry jumped over the kerb on the way into the complex.
Davison was fourth fastest on the day having finished last in the second session thanks to mechanical problems. Steven Richards, Daniel Gaunt, Andre Heimgartner, Swiss guest driver Alexandre Imperatori, Max Twigg and Shae Davies complete the top 10.
Qualifying gets underway at 0850 on Saturday.
