PIRTEK POLL: Is Jamie Whincup an all-time great?

Jamie Whincup
Jamie Whincup wrapped up the 2012 V8 Supercars Championship at Winton Motor Raceway yesterday, securing his fourth V8 title.
With his four Bathurst 1000 wins in hand – including victory during this year’s ‘Great Race’ – the 29-year-old TeamVodafone driver has the statistics to rank him amongst the best in not only Touring Car racing, but Australian motorsport in general.
His four championship success puts him equal with Allan Moffat, Bob Jane and Jim Richards, and just one title away from the all-time most capped champions, Pete Geoghean, Dick Johnson and Mark Skaife.
He is also the first person since Skaife in 2002 to wrap up the title before the final round of the championship.
In terms of Bathurst 1000 wins, only Peter Brock (9), Jim Richards (7), Larry Perkins and Skaife (6) and his current team-mate Craig Lowndes (5) have more wins in the Mount Panorama classic.
So, with his latest championship triumph, can Jamie Whincup now be considered an all-time great of Australian motorsport?
