City Index Carrera Cup Australia wildcard entry Jeroen Bleekemolen has shown his class by topping Practice 2 at Mount Panorama this afternoon.
The Dutchman upstaged Alex Davison with a lap time of 2:10.8103s, which was 0.8627s faster than the former Stone Brothers Racing pilot.
Davison came to a halt late in the session on Conrod Straight with a punctured right hand rear tyre.
Defending series champion Craig Baird, opted to not participate in the session in order to save tyres for qualifying and the three races to be completed across the weekend.
While Hunter Sports Group’s Anthony Pederson and Jonny were third and fourth fastest in a session that was completed without any other major dramas.
Money Choice Team BRM driver Nick Foster was fifth fastest in what is his first time driving a Carrera Cup car at Mt. Panorama.
New Zealander Craig Baird holds the series lead ahead of Alex Davison and Jonny Reid. Baird has had a solid title defence and in the case that he does not finish a race, he would still be leading the championships point’s standings.
Elite class points leader Max Twigg finished the session ninth ahead of his closest rival James Koundoris, who was 12th fastest.
Carrera Cup Australia has a busy schedule tomorrow that starts with Qualifying at 0845 AEST before Race 1 at 1215 and Race 2 at 1730.
