Mathew Hart has set the fastest time at Queensland Raceway ahead of this weekend's round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship.
Hart's best time from the opening session was over half a second quicker than the existing race lap record, with times expected to further tumble when new Avon tyres are fitted tomorrow.
The result marks Hart's sixth-straight chart topping practice session, with a run dating back to Phillip Island in May.
“There's no secret, the car has been very quick and consistent this year,” Hart said.
“Justin Cotter and Mike Borland have been working very hard on set up and it's showing.
“Tomorrow in qualifying it's going to be important to get a tow, because it's worth a couple of tenths of a second over a lap.
“The track is much smoother since it has been repaved; I'm really looking forward to racing on it.
“With new tyres on, I'm aiming to get the new lap record.”
Second overall was championship leader Jack Le Brocq, who comes into the round with a solid 41 point championship lead.
Next best was Garry Jacobson, driving his car that has been completely rebuilt after his Townsville rollover.
Macauley Jones, Shae Davies, Simon Hodge, Jordan Lloyd, David Sera, Sam Power and Anton De Pasquale rounded out the top 10.
On track action kicks off tomorrow at 1120 with a 20 minute qualifying session, followed by the 14 lap opening race at 1450.
