Crashes and Kyle Clews have been the highlights of the opening two FW1 Aussie Racing Cars races at Townsville today.
In Race 1, pole-sitter Peter Carr got the jump from the line but it meant little when Sam Chester and Lauren Gray came together at Turn 4. Both cars were stranded in the middle of the circuit, forcing a Safety Car. With the recovery process taking several laps to complete, the race was called, with Carr declared the victor from Josh Hunt and former class champion Kyle Clews.
With the short race duration, officials determined that drivers would be awarded half the available points for that race.
In Race 2, Kyle Clews took the win ahead of Carr, Tyler Owen, Trent Young and Erebus Motorsport's Josh Hunt.
Car lead into turn one the first time followed by Hunt and Clews.
Race 3's reverse top 10 is scheduled for 815 Sunday morning.
